SOUTH SALT LAKE, Utah — August 19, 2025
If I had a magic wand, I would wave it and bring all of D.C. right here to see what you're doing, because this is what makes America exceptional, you all get to be part of something very important in our country's future: energy independence. What you're doing is making it so we don't have to be dependent on anybody — that we can be energy dominant. – U.S. Senator John Curtis, Utah
Torus hosted U.S. Senator John Curtis at its South Salt Lake facility on August 18, showing the company's growth from a small prototype in a garage to a full-scale manufacturing operation that is redefining the future of American power.
Torus builds inertial-based distributed power plants — advanced hybrid flywheel battery systems that deliver the same grid-balancing benefits as traditional power generation, but without combustion, chemicals, or emissions. Torus solutions serve utilities, commercial facilities, and industrial customers, helping them manage new energy demands, integrate renewables, and strengthen the grid.
Senator Curtis praised Torus's growth and highlighted Utah's role in strengthening America's energy independence:
"If I had a magic wand, I would wave it and bring all of D.C. right here to see what you're doing, because this is what makes America exceptional," said Senator Curtis. "You all get to be part of something very important in our country's future: energy independence. What you're doing is making it so we don't have to be dependent on anybody — that we can be energy dominant."

Manufacturing Excellence and American Supply Chain
More than 95% of Torus's supply chain is located within 150 miles of its Utah facility, supported by key partners such as Schaeffer Industries in Lindon and Central Valley Machine in Logan. The company currently produces 400 MW of grid stabilization capacity annually and is nearing completion on a 70 MW deployment with Rocky Mountain Power / PacifiCorp that was announced earlier this year.
Senator Curtis also praised the Torus manufacturing employees in attendance for their role in building America’s energy future:
“Thanks for doing the work. Innovation is important, but it’s the men and women on the manufacturing floor who make it real. Thank you for your good work,” said Curtis.
Torus CEO and co-founder Nate Walkingshaw emphasized the company's trajectory:
"From a garage prototype in 2022 to a live production facility today, Torus is building real solutions for America's grid. We're just at the beginning of what we can deliver."
