About the Role

Torus is hiring a Product Manager - Information Security who is strategic and technically adept to lead the development and lifecycle of products in energy storage and energy management. The Product Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping solutions that optimize energy use, integrate with renewable generation, and support grid resilience and decarbonization goals. Working closely with engineering, sales, operations, and external partners, Product Managers ensure that each product meets performance, reliability, and cost targets while advancing the company’s mission. The ideal candidate will align product development with market needs, regulatory standards, and evolving technology trends to drive innovation, customer satisfaction, and business growth. 

Responsibilities

This role requires strong information security knowledge and experience building programs and products that protect critical infrastructure. You’ll work across the entire business including engineering (mechanical, electrical, & manufacturing), operations, marketing, and other product leaders to build security products, capabilities, and controls that align to proven industry standards and long term strategy.
  • Define and own requirements for security products and services.
  • Drive security capabilities to be built into energy storage components including flywheels, batteries, inverters, and control units.
  • Guide prototyping, security testing, and validation in collaboration with engineering and operations teams.
  • Ensure compliance with security and risk management certifications (IEEE 2030.5, NIST 800-171, SOC 2, NERC CIP, etc).
  • Manage BOM cost targets, lifecycle planning, and product versioning.
  • Define the security product technology stack for energy storage systems including firewalls, secure remote access, risk management, monitoring, and intrusion detection.
  • Coordinate with engineering and operation teams to oversee product design, prototyping, and performance validation.
  • Work with marketing to publish product security capabilities and features.
  • Evangelize Torus security products and capabilities in the community and market

Required Experience

  • 6+ years experience leading Information Security programs and teams
  • 1-2+ years managing security product development for critical infrastructure
  • Strong background working with security standards (OWASP, CIS, etc.) and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, etc.)
  • Technical background in cyber security engineering and architecture
  • Experience managing product lifecycle and cost targets, including BOM management, revision control, and manufacturing ramp-up
  • Clear communication skills, with the ability to translate technical constraints into product decisions and stakeholder tradeoffs
  • Experience in fast-paced, iterative hardware environments, ideally in a startup or growth-stage company

Background Check All candidates are subject to a background check.
Location + Travel The role is hybrid remote based in our South Salt Lake Headquarters Warehouse (air-conditioned) and some remote work. May require occasional onsite work in Springville R&D warehouse (air-conditioned and non air-conditioned).
Schedule Full-Time, Salaried
Compensation $110,000-130,000 (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the  corresponding pay range.)
