About the Role

The VP of Sales is responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with prospective and existing Torus non-residential customers and electric utilities. In this position, the VP of Sales will be responsible for the full scope of the commercial sales pipeline, including but not limited to: lead acquisition, account development, contract negotiation and closing of deals. Your expertise will be leveraged as we launch Torus’ commercial product into the market. You will inform and own the commercial GTM strategy. As such, the VP of Sales plays a critical role in understanding customer requirements, proposing innovative energy storage and management systems, paired with renewable energy generation and overseeing customer’s successful implementation. Your technical expertise, combined with strategic mindset, will shape our company's solution offerings, and contribute to our growth in the non-residential market segment. Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of customized solutions for non-residential and electric utility customers, aligning with their specific needs and business objectives.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including commercial and industrial customers, utilities, regulatory bodies, and technology partners, to drive collaboration and identify new business opportunities.
  • Developing and implementing sales strategies to achieve company goals, such as revenue targets, market share growth, and customer acquisition.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with key customers, partners, and stakeholders to drive sales and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Developing sales forecasts, setting sales targets, and managing the sales budget to ensure alignment with overall business objectives.
  • Continuously refining and optimizing the sales process, including lead generation, prospecting, qualification, and closing, to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate closely with the internal teams to understand customer requirements and develop compelling technical proposals and presentations.
  • Co-conduct comprehensive assessments of customers' energy usage patterns, infrastructure, and operational processes to identify opportunities for energy storage integration.
  • Coordinate with product design and engineering teams to innovate products that optimize performance, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness for the end user, considering factors such as load management, peak shaving, backup power, power quality, and demand response.
  • Work with customers, addressing their inquiries, explaining complex concepts, and guiding them through the decision-making process.
  • Lead technology demonstrations, workshops, and training sessions for customers, showcasing the value and capabilities of our energy storage solutions.

Experience You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in customer engagement, business development, or sales roles within the energy industry, particularly with non-residential customers and electric utilities.
  • Ability to understand and foster the customer relationship and drive sales to successfully translate clients’ needs into short- and long-term business strategies and initiatives. 
  • Broad communication skills with the ability to interact comfortably with people at all levels of an organization, from plant managers to equipment operators.
  • Strong understanding of industrial technologies, energy management practices, including load profiles, energy optimization, and demand management.
  • Expert knowledge in Demand Side Management program implementation, management, and design.
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills. 
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects, program offerings, customers, deadlines, and demands. 
  • An understanding of the industrial project approval process as well as typical barriers to this process and techniques for working through these barriers. 
  • A strong grasp of project financial metrics and the use of these metrics to sell-in projects to key decision makers. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including formal presentation skills before both small and large groups.

Working Conditions

This position is a remote role. You will conduct your work from your home office.
