About the Role

As a Permit Coordinator you will be working a design team in the battery storage and renewable energy industry to ensure projects stay on track by lining up permits and expediting the permit process for all parties. You will help customers obtain permits related to solar and battery storage projects, or whatever regulatory permits are required for their project. You may work with engineers, architects, and design staff to ensure permit applications contain every required item in order to avoid costly delays in the review process. You obtain documentation from relevant departments and review them to ensure project paperwork is ready to submit to the reviewing agency for approval.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize timely, friendly, and efficient customer service to uphold high Net Promoter Scores and Customer Satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with engineers, installers, and permitting authorities to ensure designs align with Torus product performance, customized by site, and comply with local and national codes.
  • Validate that systems are installed according to plan set and design in conjunction with AHJ inspections.
  • Create comprehensive documentation to support Torus support teams in delivering successful outcomes.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and enhanced customer experience.
  • Take on additional projects, duties and assignments as required and/or by request from leadership.

Experience You’ll Need

  • 1-3+ years of related experience working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Experience working in an industry related to Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a similar field. 
  • Knowledge and experience with solar DC and AC solar collection system design.
  • North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners (NABCEP) certification a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with codes and standards governing renewable energy systems and storage installation, including, but not limited to National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Working Conditions

This position is a hybrid, remote role. You will conduct your work both at Authorities Having Jurisdiction locations throughout Utah and remotely from your home office in the event in-person coordination is required. You will drive a company vehicle to AHJ locations and may be exposed to unpredictable weather conditions.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to support customers on nights, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Utah; and, based on business needs to support other market launches and operations. 
  • Must have a valid UT driver’s license.

  • Constantly operates a computer and other peripheral office equipment such as a printer or mouse.
  • Must report to work with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
  • Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
