Job description

As Controller, the position manages the Accounting function at Torus. This includes preparation of monthly financial statements and preparation of tax information to send to Torus’ tax preparers. The role  includes managing the general ledger (e.g., bank reconciliations, subledger accounts, fixed assets, accruals, tax provision, etc.) along with overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable. The role will also implement revenue recognition and other GAAP requirements. This role also manages all financial and governmental audits. The role reports to the CFO.

  • Prepare monthly financial statements according to GAAP and provide financial updates to senior management by analyzing and reporting financial data.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts , general ledger and reporting systems ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Reconcile and support each balance sheet account or subledger on a monthly basis.
  • Implement revenue recognition procedures (SAAS & hardgoods) and other GAAP requirements (e.g., software capitalization).
  • Responsible for accounts payable (and accounts receivable when applicable) and communicating timely payment to vendors.
  • Coordinate external audits (e.g., financial and governmental).
  • Answer questions from department owners regarding expenses.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls safeguards.
  • Hire, train and retain skilled accounting staff.

Experience You'll Need

To be successful in this role you’ll have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager.
  • Work experience in a public accounting firm is a plus.
  • Experience with SAAS preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills, specifically in Excel.
  • CPA preferred.
